Make a Day of It

The Mac is out at Grass Creek Park, just a 15 minute drive from downtown Kingston. It’s a nice drive out and a beautiful spot for a museum. The best part is that there is so much out here to see and do. Make your trip out to the Mac a full day adventure with one of these ideas.

Aside from the museum itself, Grass Creek Park has so much to offer. From a sandy beach with a designated swimming area, to picnic tables, a playground, and an off leash dog park, we have it all. Everything you need for the perfect family day outing is located right here on our grounds. So next time you are looking for something to do with the family, we encourage you to pack the kids, the pooch, a picnic, and come on out for a full day of outdoor and museum fun.

Do you cycle? Because we are located right off of the Waterfront Trail, cyclists are some of our major visitors here at the Mac. We have met everyone from those biking across Canada to others on a weekend trip from Kingston to Montreal. Whether you are headed on a longer adventure or are taking a simple day trip, the Mac is the perfect place to break, have some lunch, and learn about the culture that surrounds you.

Hungry? No problem. There are plenty of delicious spots to grab food in the area. Right on the Grass creek park grounds is a little food truck called Roadside 2 Go which offers classic and affordable food truck lunch options including burgers, fries, and fish n chips. If you are searching for a more traditional dining experience, Driftwood, the Treasure Islands Marina restaurant and patio is open and offering delicious meals with a view of the harbour. Also located on Highway 2 between the Mac and downtown Kingston is Farm Girl Bistro. Farm Girl uses fresh, local, seasonal ingredients to create an array of simple yet tasty dishes.

As you can see there is plenty to do, see, and eat just east of the city. I guarantee that if you take the short drive out and spend the day you will not be disappointed!
