Museum is Open May 2

The museum opens for the 2017 season on May 2.  Our permanent exhibits explore such topics as the versatility of wood as a material, the nature of tool collecting, and how our use of wood has evolved with time.  This season, One Degree of Separation invites us to open our mind and explore the hidden correlation between unlikely artifacts.

Paddle Making

Using traditional woodworking tools and techniques, make a summer staple: a paddle! Just in time for paddling season, learn how to make your own custom paddle using traditional woodworking tools and techniques. You’ll be out on that water in no time! Note: Lunch is not supplied, but picnics are welcome. This is an all ages workshop (14 yrs and under must be accompanied by an adult).

Beginner Woodworking

If you can’t make it to the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum, we will be hosting this first ever introduction workshop for children at Artillery Park. Children will learn the basics of woodworking and pre-cut projects will be sanded, assembled, and painted. Projects are fun and kid-friendly! Age: 6-12 yrs This workshop is offered as 4 classes for $48.00

Adirondak Chairs

Build your own iconic summer chair by hand at our most popular workshop! You will learn how to shape the pieces using hand planes and spoke shaves. You’ll paint your chair and take it home to enjoy your most relaxing summer yet! Pieces will be roughly shaped ahead of time, but you will do all the required assembly and final polishing yourself! This is an all ages workshop (14 yrs and under must be accompanied by an adult).
