Winter Light logo

Brighten-up the holidays: come to WinterLight, a seasonal celebration of trees and community at the Mac!

Bring your family and friends out to craft seasonal decorations and activities both indoors and out.

Inside the cosy, festive museum, enjoy winter story time with Kingston Frontenac Public Library – or try your hand at making nosegays & swags, orange pomanders, string art disks, cinnamon stick trees, paper ornaments and mini-reindeer! You can even learn how to woodturn and of course there will be a colouring/crafting table for the youngest visitors. Kingston Field Naturalists will be on hand for nature walks and a bird show and tell. A biologist will have animal pelts and furs you can handle.  There will also be baked goods for a donation and free hot chocolate.

Children can create a craft for the person they love in the children’s secret gift room. Shhhh, it’s a secret…no adults allowed!

Outside, WinterLight activities include a nature walk, holiday ornament craft, tree decorating and a campfire; remember to bring your marshmallows!

The entire log house is being transformed into an artisan market – what a perfect place to pick up that special gift for that special someone.

New this year: The Kingston 1000 Island Cruises & Trolleys will have one of the their mini buses shuttling people back to the beach where people can take part in a scavenger hunt looking for items to fill a keepsake Christmas ornament and visit the animals in the petting zoo.  While on the bus listen to the story Penguin and Pinecone and create your very own pinecone friend. In the museum, Farm Girl will be selling sandwiches and soups for families to enjoy out on the deck. Kingston Frontenac Public Library will have the mobile library so don’t forget your library card.

Holiday lights and The Kingston Carolers add magic to the day.  The event ends with the lighting of the log house at 5 pm.
